SCOTT CARDEN

Without a doubt, the 7’ long, GI Joe Aircraft Carrier that I got when I was 7-8 years old!
My first instinct was to say my wife Silvia! Between her being one of the highest producing residential loan originators in Austin, running our 7-year-old daughter Eva around, and my job, it’s hard to find time together during the week.
That said, I’m guessing you were looking for something business related. On that front, it’d be Jeff Williams, the COO at Apple. Jeff and I briefly met a few years ago at an NC State Alumni event and he graciously shared some of his experience with me. Apple gets so much attention for their product design, but their operations are equally impressive and there are a lot of lessons I could learn as Magic Leap continues to scale.
Typically a Spotify “Happy Mix” with some Dua Lipa, The Weekend, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga (i.e. see wife and 7 year old daughter above!)
Too many good ones to choose from…here are a few from this year:
Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead The Son by Philip Meyer All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr Anything by Erik Larson - start w/ Isaac’s Storm about the Galveston Hurricane in 1900
Station Eleven - HBO His Dark Materials - HBO
When our factory demonstrated >90% rolled yield as we launched Magic Leap 2. This was the culmination of many lessons learned from Magic Leap 1, significant material, process, and equipment changes needed to deliver double the field of view in 1/2 the size, and execution by an amazing team of people across 3 remote sites during a pandemic.
Seeing Magic Leap 2 gain adoption in enterprise, skiing and fishing with Eva, date nights with Silvia, and getting my exercise back on track!
